super excited about fall

Not only am I super-duper excited about fall, but I am super-duper in love with these poems!
A Vagabond Song
There is something in the autumn that is native to my blood -
Touch of manner, hint of mood;
And my heart is like a rhyme,
With the yellow and the purple and the crimson keeping time.
The scarlet of the maples can shake me like a cry
Of bugles going by.
And my lonely spirit thrills
To see the frosty asters like a smoke upon the hills.
There is something in October sets the gypsy blood astir;
We must rise and follow here,
When from every hill of flame
She calls and calls each vagabond by name.
- Bliss Carman
Goodnight-

october goals

i am incredibly goal-oriented & i like to make a new list of goals each month.
kelsey & i talked a lot about our goals when she was home last week.
october is the month of:
  • no sugar (at least no dessert/candy)
  • prayer (read letters to malcolm)
  • random acts of kindness
  • a fast
  • the start of my teacher training for yoga
  • legs-up-the-wall pose (viparita karani) everyday
  • applications!!! finish all by october 30th!

dear friends and family members, please help me achieve these goals in october. please read my college essays, but do not tempt me with desserts! : )

also, i am amazed at how quick our month reading isaiah 58 went!

The rest of my life

From A Rolling Stone
To pitch my tent with no prosy plan,
To range and to change at will;
To mock at the mastership of man,
To see Adventure's thrill.
Carefree to be, as a bird that sings;
To go my own sweet way;
To reck not at all what may befall,
But to live and to love each day.
To scorn all strife, and to view all life
With the curious eyes of a child;
From the plangent sea of the prairie,
From the slum to the heart of the Wild.
From the red-rimmed star to the speck of sand,
From the vast to the greatly small;
For I know that the whole for good is planned,
And I want to see it all.
-Robert Service
Last night I took a break from reading my AP World texts and Siddhartha and picked up a book of poetry I have been keeping by my bed. This was the first one I read, and it made my heart so happy.
I fell asleep and dreamed-up good things all night. : )

Somedays I am really glad I am not Ben Bernanke. . .

At work again this morning. It is raining and it is cold and I feel so worn out. Kels is back though and I've realized how much I've missed her.
Today:
I want to be back in India. I want to take a thousand pictures. I want to read something fun.
AP World is so full of contradictions!

learned a new word today

p.s. i still have photos from new york, the district, and india to share!

O how I love!

These dance class inspired pieces are just too good to be true. Some of them (in particular the pants) would be perfect for yoga too!

It’s our confession Lord. . .

That we are weak
So very weak
but You are strong
And though we’ve nothing Lord, to lay at your feet
We come to Your feet and say, “Help us along”
A broken heart and a contrite spirit
You have yet to deny
Your heart of mercy beats with love’s strong current
Let the river flow by your Spirit now, Lord we cry
Let Your mercies fall from heaven
Sweet mercies flow from heaven
New mercies for today
Shower them down Lord as we pray
Let Your mercies fall from heaven
Sweet mercies flow from heaven
New mercies for today
Shower them down Lord as we pray

Looking up

The windows at Yale are perfect.

Good morning Yale!

On the morning of the 17th, Mom & I rolled out of bed (we didn't got into our hotel until a little after 1:00 a.m. the night before) at 5:30 a.m. and hopped into the car. We drove about 7 min. down the road to see a very empty campus at Yale University. Even though it was still dark out and cold, the campus was really lovely. After a 15 min. self- guided tour session, we jumped back in the car and started our journey toward Boston.

p.s. later that afternoon, the New Haven police caught the murder suspect in that same area!

Franklin Covey

I am still trying to find that perfect camera/everything bag. Denise from my design class at CPCC has the most amazing black leather messenger/laptop bag. She said that she got it from this place. I would love to find something that would last me a long while and that is professional-looking.

Driving

Two thumbs up (just for you Brandi!)

Mom & our lovely little Carolina Blue rental car.

NY State : )
Tolls : (
Tunnels are always fun . . .

And then again, so are bridges.

On to more exciting things

. . . like our recent trip to Boston & New York last week. . .

I actually wore this the other day. . .

Yes. . . it IS a studded jumper from Goodwill.
The sad part is that I actually recieved several complements.

p.s. I have so many great pictures to post, but no time to get to it!

Abandoned house {exterior}

The house that S & I found the other weekend. . .
It was so marvelously creepy!
