GUESS WHO'S COMING TO DINNER?

. . . no. . . not sidney poitier. . .

someone infinitely more dear to me believe it or not!

. . . so . . . yes, the lovely miss dana saladoff is coming all the way from vermont tomorrow! kelsey and i really couldn't be any more excited.

{photo of me, k, and d in florence this summer}

road trippn

i always love a good road trip!

my favorite kind are the ones like we just experienced this past weekend - one that is fantastically unpredictable and new.

it was so unpredictable that mom and i ended up driving straight up a mountain {on a dirt path} in search of the lodge! it was seriously funny and scary! we were convinced that we were going to get chased down the mountain by someone with a gun. . . once we realized that we were getting more and more lost, we had to back down the mountain {on the darkest of nights mind you}.

. . . eventually we made it to primland and into the arms of my darling sisters! {you can only imagine all the screaming, jumping, dancing, laughing that went on. . .}

i'm so thankful for the rest and relaxation we all got to experience this weekend. i have gone far too many weeks {er. . . months} without taking a sabbath and i needed it badly.

{all photos from friday night. isn't lake norman pretty in the fall {pic. 1}?}

p.s. i cannot wait for the events of this week. thanksgiving week is always full of love, joy, and celebration in this household!

happy 21st birthday kelsey!

you're 21 now love.

i sure hope that your day was filled with only the best things in life.

i honestly couldn't ask for a better role model in life. k, you are outstanding in every way.

i am so thankful for this summer and the fact that we spent every waking moment together. i only wish that every week was like that! when people ask me what my favorite part was, i always say it was spending time with you. sure, we saw and experienced some pretty fabulous things, but nothing will ever compare with the time we had together.

you are gorgeous, funny, affectionate, and by far the most compassionate, generous, and caring person i have ever known.

you deserve only the best in life.

happy, happy birthday! i love you more than i can put into words.

{p.s. i cannot wait to see you tomorrow!!! . . . photo 1 is of k in oxford and photo 2 is of k in orvieto}

marie antoinette had it made

all pictures from k & my versailles visit this summer.

after 2.5 hours in line, we made it inside and it was even more impressive than we had imagined.

versailles, like the louvre is overwhelming, {note the kid in the last photo} but significant and an interesting place to visit. if you have only a couple days in paris though, it is almost impossible to do versailles in just a day, so. . . you might want to think of your options before jumping on the train. . .

this movie certainly captures it entirely {i watched it again a few weeks back and forgot just how much i have missed it}!

p.s. i know these are long overdue. . . but i am going to keep posting some photos from the summer just b/c i want to remember everything to the best of my ability.
